its a nice idea... but it would never work, people are too lazy, and besides it would involve people meeting up and we all know what sorta weirdos you meet on the internet

If you're talking about the idea of getting the best of the best on this board together to do a REAL movie, with REAL cameras, it's blindingly unrealistic. What I can imagine is someone writing a screenplay. We'll take the best one. Then someone writes the music or chooses songs, or whatever. Then we have a director of the boards choice do this. But then, the director would have to agree to and want to do this. You have to remember, whoever directs this pays for it to happen.
That's about as far as it goes. That's the most realistic scenario; and that's not saying much.

Here's another thought for an interesting experiment. In music, artists will sometimes "cover" another artists song (i.e. 0rgy's version of "Blue Monday", Marilyn Manson's version of "Sweet Dreams", Disturbed's verion of "Shout", etc.). You end up with a new spin on the same song. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.
Now translate that to video... What if we all settled on one script. Each of us go off an make our own version of it, and then package it as a compilation with 10+ directors interpretation of the same story. Because people are busy/lazy, maybe we settle on a script by the end of April or May, and set an October deadline for submissions for the compilation.
I dunno. Just a thought...

I think the different interpretations of the same script idea sounds good. It would need to be simple idea though, and something short to be viable. You could even produce a CD or DVD with all the different versions on if there were enough people interested.
The only problem I can see with it is that, as someone else mentioned, people are lazy. Everybody has enthusiasm but actually doing something is a different matter. I remember someone starting a similar venture where different filmmakers filmed different scenes of a script and it would be all put together at the end. It never got made though. I don't think people could be bothered when it came down to it.
Despite my pessimism though, I'm certainly interested in such a project.

I too am very interested. I would do this if we got a good enough script, that we could fully realize without spending too much money on the picture. The question is, again, how motivated we are. I think with a good enough script people will want to do this.

I'd be happy to club together and make something. It'd sure give us all the experience of working with a team.

Just an idea i'm thinking up while i'm bored as ken!
It seems that we have quite a mix here of people with different talents, some like writing screenplays, some like directing, some like writing music etc
You should make the exposure production! everyone in exposure takes a role into it, use a few screenplays that people write off here, choose a few directors to direct each of them, a few dop's etc it would be fun

Okay, first things first. Do we have a(ny) volunteer(s) for writing the screenplay(s) for the movie(s)? We need people to start taking initiative with a project like this. If nobody steps forward I volunteer myself. Let's just start throwing out some ideas.
Volunteer. Or you may end up like

the guitar message board i go to managed to write a song, where everyone put a part to it, so i guess these internet ventured do work...
as for ideas...
it needs to be something simple, so everyone can get involved, so that rules out anything that needs loads of FX.
